TCC Season Review 2024/25 – Imperial FC

5th May, 2025

Following last season’s top-three finish, many expected Imperial to go on to challenge for the title this time around. Despite a run of decent results in the opening games of the season, their inconsistency kicked in as the players started to adapt to coach Opeyemi Azeez’s tactics.

Imperial defeated new boys VOE and Valiant in their first two league games of the season before losing to Broad City on match day three. Another narrow defeat followed on match day four to Gbagada before a return to winning ways in a seven-goal thriller against Atlantic Business in Ijebu Ode. The side then failed to score in their next two games against Beyond Limits and Real Sapphire, losing in an aggregate score of five. Two other losses to Iganmu Tiger and Sporting Lagos meant the side from Odogbolu were winless in their past four TCC League games and needed a result to arrest the slump.

A narrow 2-1 win over Dannaz helped calm the nerves, but that did not help the side mount a winning streak as they fell to another defeat to Dino Sporting Club in their next league outing. A thrilling 3-3 draw with Dino in the return fixture helped set the tone for another routine win over Dannaz. A comprehensive 5-2 win over Iganmu Tiger, plus a two-all draw with Sporting Lagos, improved their point tally for the season. In the final seven games of the season, Imperial finished with two wins (six points) from a possible 21. In the end, Imperial finished the season in ninth spot and as the league’s third most porous defence.

Meanwhile, they did enjoy a decent run in the Cup, ending their run in the semifinal after losing to eventual winners Beyond Limits.
