Dino SC edged Gbagada FC on penalties in the TCC Cup semi-final played at the Remo Stars stadium in Ikenne on Sunday.
Dino finished top of group B, while Gbagada came second in group A to reach the final four. Dino were eyeing their first cup final, while Gbagada were the defending champions of the tournament.
Quite cagey and subdued start to the game as the opening 20 mins saw few chances between the two sides. However, it was the champions who drew first blood through star forward Ademola Akibu with five minutes left in the first half.
After the break, the lions intensified their efforts to find an equaliser, while the Blue Eagles were keen to see out the game and reach a second successive final.
It was goalkeeper Adebayo Oligbinde’s heroics that kept Gbagada in the lead. However, the Lions were not to be denied as Hassan Agbede drew them level in the 85th minute.
The game went straight to penalties and Dino emerged victorious 3-2 after the shootout.
