Emmydinho kicked off the year 2021 in The Creative Championship League with an uninspiring goalless draw against table toppers Remo Stars Academy at the Agege stadium on Saturday.
Despite the pre-game statistics favouring a goalfest, the first ever TCC meeting between the two clubs surprisingly ended without a goal.
It was a game where the chances were difficult to come by, as both sides looked without rhythm and the required urgency to produce the goals.
The goalkeepers were spectators for large periods of the game, but the few times the attackers came forward to get a goal, they were repelled with utmost ease.
The best chance of the game fell to Remo Stars’ Oluwaseun Odunsi, but his cross looking effort on goal was tipped unto the crossbar by Emmydinho goalie Abdullahi Aliu.
The home side also had the chance via Chigozie Ikejibue’s freekick, but Olisa Emmanuel smothered brilliantly and gathered at the second time of asking.
Both sides tried to push for the goal, but it never came as they ended sharing the spoils.
Man of the Match
Emmydinho’s Chigozie Ikejibue held his own against the league leaders’ all star midfield. The defensive midfielder was smart and disciplined with or without possession all through the game.
