VOE Sweep Iganmu Aside in Return to Victory

A goal in each half was enough for VOE to defeat Iganmu and return to winning ways.

The hosts however began the game on the back foot, as Iganmu came out guns blazing, threatening to break the deadlock. But VOE kept their cool and turned the game on its head with the opener seven minutes in.

A fast break by the hosts left the Iganmu defense backtracking frantically. And with numbers committed to an attack earlier, an exposed backline could do nothing to stop Abdulraheem Taiwo’s tap in from close range for the opening goal.

Iganmu’s quest to restore parity forced VOE to be unusually quiet upfront. Both sides were guilty of being frivolous with key chances that could have determined the direction of the game. In the 87th minute, Oluwatosin Samad finished off the Tigers with a second goal for VOE – scoring from inside the opponent’s 18-yard area with no Iganmu player anywhere near him.

That goal summarized Iganmu’s season so far – frail and vulnerable. What seemed to be a long road ahead keeps getting longer with each game they lose.
