Valiant registered their first win of the season with a 2-1 victory over Iganmu.
The host couldn’t have asked for a better start as they opened their account in the second minute.
Play switched from the midfield to the left wing as Coach Timothy’s boys got off the blocks fastest. A cut back from the wing was well met by an onrushing Michael Torbunde who fired home, putting Valiant in front.
The hosts were cruising and well on their way to a victorious half when Iganmu struck with an equalizer. In the second minute of added time, the captain’s lobbed pass put Shakiru Omiwale through on goal. He fired home coolly, drawing Iganmu level just before the break.
But the hosts, resilient for a first win of the season, regained the lead 10 minutes after the second half resumed.
Ayomide Akinsola was on hand to finish off a quick break that caught Iganmu by surprise, tapping the ball beyond Mikel Ohia. His goal would make the difference after 90 minutes as the hosts picked maximum points from a TCC League game for the first time this season.
