Sporting Lagos continued their resurgence with a 1-0 win over Valiant on Wednesday.
After scoring twice against Atlantic Business in the Cup, Sporting Lagos came into the game raring to go. The visitors got things off on the front foot, asking questions of Valiant’s defense. And they were rewarded for their hard work in the 30th minute.
An unmarked Abuchi Lawrence made the most of a corner-kick, nodding the ball into the roof of the net to open Sporting Lagos’ account. It was their first big chance of the game, and they made the most of it.
At this point, an already tough task became tougher for Valiant. With just two goals scored in their last two league games, the hosts failed to trouble the Sporting Lagos defense. When the big chances came, they failed to make the most of it.
While Sporting Lagos had their own fair share of missed chances, Valiant would end the game with the biggest regret – not scoring. Their search for a first win of the season continues, while Sporting continue to rack up the wins after their opening day defeat at Beyond Limits.
