Imperial, Gbagada Sign off on 2025/26 Season with Goal Fiesta

Imperial left it late to secure a point against Gbagada in their final league game of the 2025/2026 season.

Imperial’s Gbenle Olumide kicked off the goal fest in the 15th minute, scoring from a free-kick which was deflected beyond Samuel Bassey’s reach. But that lead lasted only 11 minutes as Idowu Adebayo pulled the Blue Eagles level with a fine header.

Two minutes from half-time, Imperial struck again. Sabastine Thompson found himself through on goal after some fine footwork by Gbenle Olumide. The midfielder did not miss the mark as he fired Imperial in front again. Nine minutes of play later, Gbagada scored twice to take the lead. Idowu Adebayo bagged his brace from close range in the 52nd minute before Gome Namene put Gbagada in front with a lob from 30 yards out.

But Imperial would have the final say of the game, pulling one back in the fourth minute of stoppage time, to the excitement of the home fans and the disappointment of the visitors. Three all it ended as both sides settled for a point apiece in their final game of the season.
