Beyond Limits’ quest for a fifth TCC League title in a row proved unsuccessful despite hitting Iganmu for five.
Coach Olumide’s side came into the game one point behind Real Sapphire and aware of the task ahead: Win and hope Real Sapphire drop points.
With the title on the line, Beyond Limits pressed for a goal early in the game. And they found it just after two minutes as the hosts put the ball into their own net. 13 minutes later, the four-time champions doubled their lead as Rawa latched onto a Muyideen cutback to extend his side’s lead.
On the stroke of half-time, Beyond Limits added a third. Taiwo Cole finished off his brilliant solo run by drilling the ball home and sending supporting fans into a frenzy.
The visitors cranked up the heat in the second half, with Toheeb Abiodun tapping home from close range for their fourth.
The hosts came to life in the 55th minute as they scored two in 17 minutes, halving the deficit. But Beyond Limits were too strong for them, and would add a fifth eight minutes from time to record a comprehensive win.
It however wasn’t enough at the end of the day as they surrendered the league title to a Real Sapphire side that defeated Gbagada. An eventful season nonetheless for Coach Olumide’s boys as they finished second in the league for the first time.
