Real Sapphire’s 4-1 victory over Gbagada was enough to secure a maiden TCC League title.
The visitors came into the game with Beyond Limits hot on their heels. A win on #TCCFinalDay was non-negotiable, especially with just one point separating both sides.
With 35 minutes gone, no goals to their name, and Beyond Limits already two goals to the good, the pressure on Coach Dan’s boys doubled. Despite all their hard work in the season, they risked losing out on the title on Final Day.
In the 36th minute however, the stadium sprang to life as the visitors broke the deadlock. Ibrahim Adamu connected well with a cross from the right to put his side back in contention for the title.
A minute later, Real Sapphire doubled their lead, tightening their grip on the trophy. The Blue Eagles defense was caught napping as Olawale dribbled his way into space before sending his shot into the roof of the net. Before half-time, the visitors were three goals to the good as Ayomide got in on the action.
Idowu pulled one back for Gbagada in the second half. But it wasn’t enough to spoil the party as Real Sapphire added a fourth to seal victory and secure a first TCC League trophy.
