VOE seal late win in blockbuster victory over Dino

VOE secured a second victory of the season in dramatic fashion, defeating Dino 3-1.

Both sides started the game confidently, oozing confidence after opening day victories. It was however VOE who drew first blood after a quiet start to the game.

Abdulraheem Quyyum breached the Dino defense, beating their offside trap and poking the ball home to break the deadlock. After a video review, his goal was acknowledged by the officials, putting VOE in front.

The visitors, resilient in their push for an equalizer, threw all they had at their hosts. And their efforts paid off in the second minute of the second half as Israel Timothy put the ball into his own net.

The equalizer set the rest of the game on the edge as both sides pushed to score the game’s third goal. Despite getting a lot of chances, Dino’s offense failed to make the most of them, handing VOE a lifeline with each one missed.

The game seemed destined for a draw until the 4th minute of stoppage time. After soaking up the pressure, VOE turned defense into a quick attack, catching Dino unaware. A cross from the left found second-half substitute, Muhammed Sodiq, who put his side ahead with a low shot. Opatokun Abiola added a third the following minute, his goal the final kick of the game as VOE steamrolled a crestfallen Dino.

It’s six points from two games for VOE, their best start to a TCC League season.
