Sporting Lagos and VOE shared the spoils as both sides played out a 1-1 draw.
The contest began as a quiet affair until the 29th minute. Ibrahim Abubakir, through on goal, got the first big chance of the clash. His shot however missed the mark by inches as the game remained level – and would feature no goals till the break.
15 minutes of cooling and pep talk later, both sides upped the ante in the quest for the opener. Six minutes in, Sporting Lagos broke the deadlock through Faruk Alimi. Not afraid to take aim from long distances, the No. 21 again pulled the trigger from quite the distance to break the deadlock and put his side in front.
11 minutes later, Ibrahim again missed another opportunity to get on the scoresheet, as he was denied by the goalkeeper. The hosts would be made to rue that missed opportunity as Shobaike Oluwasegun struck in the 78th minute to draw VOE level after a defensive mix-up.
That would be the last goal of the clash as both sides settled for a point apiece. L
