Gbagada defeated Atlantic Business 2-1 to register a first TCC League home win in 2026.
Both sides began the game desperate for a win. While the Blue Eagles had not won a home game since October, the visitors were on a two-game run without a win. And with points aplenty to still fight for this season, both sides went at each other with vigor. But it was the hosts who broke through first.
Sefiu Abdulramon was well placed to fire into the bottom corner after a bit of lackadaisical defending by God’s Own Team. Coach Japheth rallied his boys and got a response just four minutes later as his side drew level from a corner kick.
But not willing to back down from the challenge, Coach Akinyelu’s boys struck again 10 minutes later, with a Malik header at the near post to restore the hosts’ lead. That lead was kept intact by half-time thanks, in part, to a big Samuel Bassey save, who kept his side in front.
That save would go a long way at the end of the game as the Blue Eagles ran out winners, handing Atlantic Business back-to-back defeats on the road.
