Gbagada Stumble as Imperial Pick Maximum Points

Gbagada’s hopes of catching the log leader took an unexpected blow as they lost 2-0 to Imperial.

The Blue Eagles came into the game on the back of a four-game winning run. All that confidence however took an early knock in the game as they conceded a penalty in the 21st minute. Bashir Abdulkareem stepped up and narrowly beat the goalkeeper to put Imperial in front.

Two minutes later, it was Gbagada’s turn to get a penalty and draw level. But Gome Namene sent his attempt over the bar, to the relief of the Imperial team. The visitors kept their cool and controlled the game when it mattered, frustrating the efforts of their hosts.

They would go on to add a second through Ejimole Blessing’s 87th minute strike, thereby securing a first victory in five TCC League games.
