Gbagada’s wait for a first-ever league win against Sporting Lagos continues as they lost 2-0 in the Lagos derby.
The Blue Eagles started the game the livelier of the two sides, pressing for an early goal on enemy territory. Coach Akinyelu’s boys however failed to convert their chances and struggled to contain Sporting’s dynamic midfielders.
On their part, the hosts were made to sweat by the Gbagada defense until they broke the deadlock in the 45th minute. Stanley Chukwu dazzled his way past his marker on the left as he danced into the box. His short pass into the box found a waiting John Lucky who only needed to poke the ball home.
13 minutes into the second half, the hosts doubled their lead. John Lucky doubled his tally in style, curling his left-footed shot past Lukman Babalola.
Both goals were enough to see Sporting Lagos over the line against Gbagada as they stretched their unbeaten run against the Blue Eagles.
