Gbagada’s wait for a first-ever TCC League win against Sporting Lagos continued as they were held to a draw in the Lagos derby.
The contest started in a quiet fashion, with both teams unable to create chances. It was a rather uneventful first half as both goalkeepers had little to deal with.
The game however came alive in the second half, as both sides seemed uninterested in going home with a solitary point. The hosts registered successive chances in the 50th minute. But the Blue Eagles failed to convert.
17 minutes later, they were made to regret missing those chances as Sporting Lagos raced into the lead. Fuhad Ojediran’s goal broke the deadlock as the visitors went ahead. Their lead however didn’t last long.
In the 71st minute, Semiu Fagbayi leaped higher than his marker and connected well with a cross from the right, nodding the ball past Kufre in goal. The rest of the half fizzled out like the fixture started, quietly, with both teams unwilling to push for a second goal.
