Imperial made the most of their home support for the first time this season as they defeated Dannaz 2-1.
With only one league goal at home this season, Imperial’s home struggles were well-documented. Theyhowever found fresh vigour to chase a result in this clash, suppressing their visitors in the first half.
They were however made to wait until the second half to break the deadlock.
Asomusho Kelly found a way into the opposition’s 18-yard area in the 49th minute. Under pressure, he released a weak shot which was aimed at the goalkeeper. For one reason or the other however, Aderibigbe fumbled the ball, letting it slip into his goal.
Several missed chances after, it was Joel Ashuku’s turn to double Imperial’s lead. In the 77th minute, the substitute received a low cross inside Dannaz’s six-yard box. Unmarked, he wasted no time converting from close range with a powerful shot.
Dannaz would pull one back in the 86th minute but it was too little too late. It’s the perfect start to the month for the hosts. They will now be looking to keep up the momentum.
