For only a second time this season, Sporting Lagos scored five times in a TCC League game after defeating Valiant 5-0.
The hosts got off to the best possible start, taking the lead in the first minute. Abdullahi Aminu’s overhead kick broke the deadlock as Sporting Lagos stamped their authority on the game early. Two minutes later, Ibrahim Abubakir doubled their tally with a fine finish.
Not satisfied, the hosts continued to press for more goals. They’d get a third on the half hour mark, with Ibrahim Abubakir bagging his brace from the spot after Valiant handled the ball in the area. By the end of the half, Coach Imenger’s side were 4-0 down, and facing an uphill task to take anything away from the game.
Four minutes into the 2nd half and what seemed like an Herculean task became a Sisyphean task as Lawan Mohammed made it five. The tally would remain that way until full time as the Lagosians proved to be head and shoulder above their opponents. The result saw them move into third spot temporarily at the expense of Broad City.
