Imperial registered their fourth away victory this season in style, defeating Dino 5-3.
Without a win in their last three games, Dino came into the game as desperate as their visitors whose wins had dried up since the turn of the year.
As expected, both sides went head-to-head as they contested every ball and quizzed each other’s defense in a race for the first goal. Imperial however got to the finish line first, breaking the deadlock through Ajibade David in the 29th minute. On the stroke of half-time, Taofeek rose highest to convert from a corner-kick.
Two early goals in the 2nd half extended Imperial’s lead further as Elijah Kingsley (49’) and Taofeek (51’) heaped more pressure on Dino. Five minutes later, the hosts pulled one back with Samuel Obudu tucking one into the bottom corner. He would get his brace four minutes from time. But that was not before Elijah Kingsley bagged his brace in the 71st minute with Imperial’s fifth.
The result is Dino’s worst defeat since their 6-2 loss to Beyond Limits earlier this season, an indication of a rather rapid slump. For Imperial, they’ll be hoping to keep up the momentum in their next league outing.
