For the first time this year, VOE FA registered back-to-back league wins after defeating Iganmu 2-1.
The encounter began as a lively contest, with both sides threatening to break the deadlock early. It was the visitors however who broke through in the 5th minute minute. A quick VOE attack saw an attempt hit the woodwork before rebounding off Adedeji Emmanuel’s leg and rolling into the net.
Iganmu refused to be slowed down by the early goal conceded and pressed for the equalizer. 15 minutes into the game, they drew level, doing it in style. Aduroja Johnson’s quick feet did the heavy lifting for the equalizer, first lobbing an onrushing opponent before firing home from close range.
The lively half featured a handful of goalkeeper saves and last ditch tackles before both sides went in for the break.
Iganmu and VOE maintained the intensity in the 2nd half, with both sides pushing for a second goal. 18 minutes into the half, VOE took the lead again. A sleepy Iganmu defense had no response for VOE’s quick attack, a move which Shogbaike Oluwasegun finished off with a simple tap in.
His goal would make all the difference, extending Iganmu’s wait for a first win of the season.
