A 2-1 win over Sporting Lagos was just enough for Atlantic Business as they continued their chase for a TCC League title.
It was however far from smooth sailing for the Business Team as they fell behind after only eight minutes of play. Faruk Alimi was in the right place at the right time to intercept a pass on the midfield line. The midfielder raced towards the visitors’ goal with fervor before unleashing a shot that sailed past Abass Wahab in goal from 25 yards out.
Coach Japheth’s side pressed for a quick response by creating a flurry of chances, all of which were unsuccessful as they went into the break trailing.
The visitors, in the 2nd half, continued to probe for an equalizer, which came in the 61st minute. Friday Cornelius tapped home from close range after a freekick was sent into the 18-yard area.
11 minutes later, Atlantic Business doubled their tally, with Donald Godwin completing the turnaround by converting from the spot. Despite a late shot at redemption for the hosts, Atlantic Business maintained their lead till the end of the game, which saw them inch closer to the top of the table.
