Gbagada picked up a second victory on the road this year with a 2-1 win over Dino.
The Blue Eagles dominated early proceedings, creating chance after chance. They were however kept at bay by an impressive Toriola Hammed in goal, who kept Dino in the game.
The goalkeeper would eventually be beaten in the 40th minute as Gbagada took the lead. A mistimed bounce of the ball cost Toriola – and Dino – as Idowu Adebayo pounced to head home the game’s opener.
In the 2nd half, it was Samuel Bassey’s turn to stave off Dino’s goal attempts, with the keeper making two early saves in the half. He however had no response for Dino’s 56th minute attempt, a rebound which Adamu Terungwa fired home, after an initial attempt bounced off the woodwork and onto his path.
The equalizer fueled Dino’s momentum as they threatened to take the lead with attempt after attempt. But they failed to convert. 10 minutes from time, they paid dearly for those missed opportunities as Sefiu Abdulrahmon restored Gbagada’s lead, heading the ball home from a corner kick.
That goal settled the tie in Gbagada’s favour, earning Coach Akinyelu back-to-back TCC League wins for the first time this year.
