Real Sapphire Maintain Winning Start to the Year

Real Sapphire continued their winning start to 2026 with a 1-0 victory over VOE.

Both sides began the game locked in a battle in the midfield, with both goalkeepers having little to do. For all of their efforts to get an early lead, Real Sapphire were met with a sturdy VOE defence that gave little away.

A quiet 1st half gave way to a similar 2nd 45, with both sides barely threatening each other’s goal. Goal attempts were rare as one side kept the other at bay. The teams seemed content to settle for a draw until the game-changing moment in the 82nd minute.

Bidemi Amole got the ball on the edge of the 18-yard area. With space to shoot from, the attacker curled the ball past Oluwasegun in goal, breaking the deadlock and VOE hearts. 

His goal would make all the difference as the reigning champions continued their steady climb to the upper echelons of the league table.
