Gbagada’s winless league run continued into 2026 as they were held to a 2-2 draw against VOE FA.
Without a league win since October 26, the Blue Eagles came into the side desperate to start off the year on a winning note.
And it didn’t take long before they broke the deadlock, with Sefiu Abdulramon breaking the deadlock in the 9th minute. The midfielder converted from the spot after a VOE FA player handled the ball in the area.
Two minutes later, Gbagada doubled their lead. Idowu Adebayo took advantage of a sluggish defense before firing in a low shot for the hosts’ second.
Not wanting their hosts to run away with the game, Opatokun Abiola pulled one back for the visitors in the 17th minute after a neat exchange of passes.
What would follow were a flurry of missed chances by both sides, and the scoreline staying at 2-1 until drama in the 56th minute.
VOE pulled one back through Adejumo Samad’s header. His goal, initially ruled out, was however acknowledged after a video review by the officials, thereby drawing the visitors level.
Failure to make the most of defensive errors at both ends of the pitch meant the game ended with both sides settling for a point apiece.
MAN OF THE MATCH
