Away teams dominated TCC Cup MatchDay 3 results, with only one side failing to record any points on the road.
In Group A, Real Sapphire, after two attempts, recorded a first victory of the campaign. A 3rd minute goal by Xavier was enough to secure maximum points against a Valiant side that was everything but valiant.
It was a weekend of first wins in the Group as Broad City notched a first win, albeit a slim one on the road, against Dino SC.
After a quiet start to the game, the visitors were awarded a penalty after a Dino player was adjudged to have handled the ball in the area. Hanif Sanusi stepped up and sent the goalie the wrong way to open Broad City’s account in the 23rd minute.
What followed was 67 minutes of Dino being denied an equalizer by the woodwork, Emmanuel Obi in goal, and their profligacy in front of goal. The visitors were as guilty too, wasting chance after chance to extend their lead.
In the group’s other game, VOE continued their unbeaten start to the campaign with a draw against Imperial.
Beyond Limits headlined the results in Group A, thumping Iganmu 6-1. Three players – Emmanuel Adeboyejo, Olarinsoye Taiwo and Daniel Ariehi – bagged braces as the reigning champions continued their fine start to their title defense.
In the group’s other games, Gbagada were held to a 2-2 draw by Atlantic Business, forcing Coach Akinyelu’s side to wait for another MatchDay to get a TCC Cup win. Sporting Lagos is the other team in the group still waiting for a first win after losing 2-1 to Dannaz.
In all, four teams are still waiting for their first win of the 2025/2026 TCC Cup season. Will they get it on MatchDay 4?
