Valiant recorded back-to-back victories for the first time this season with a 1-0 triumph over Dannaz.
The hosts came into the game brimming with confidence after their 2-1 win against Iganmu last week. And they stamped their feet early on in the game, breaking the deadlock in the opening minute.
A sleepy Dannaz defense was caught out by a counter-attacking move. Down the right, Ayomide Akinsola’s low cross found an unmarked Ibukun Olawumi who scored from close range to put Valiant in front.
Dannaz, throughout the 1st half, struggled to put anything past the solid home defense. At the other end, Valiant were guilty of failing to convert a handful of chances that would have made the fixture more comfortable.
They would go on to see out the result, registering a second home win in a row – a first this season. For Coach Timothy, keeping a second clean sheet in three games signals that his side are gradually finding their feet.
MAN OF THE MATCH
Salam Akinsola (Valiant)
The midfielder’s creativity and game awareness were more than a handful for the Dannaz defense to handle.
