Sporting Lagos scored five goals for the first time this season as they put Iganmu to the sword.
The first of the glut came in the sixth minute, with the hosts showing their hand early in the game. Abuchi Lawrence pounced on a defender, intercepted his pass, and raced towards the goalkeeper before sending him the wrong way.
Throughout the half, Iganmu kept their hosts quiet, keeping them at bay. But they had no such success in the second half as Coach Caleb’s boys doubled their lead in the 49th minute. Faisal Umar lost his marker in the 18-yard area before tapping the ball into an empty net.
In the 66th minute, Abuchi got his brace in style. Upon receiving the ball on the half-way line, the winger shrugged off two markers while racing towards goal. His weak shot bounced off the goalkeeper into the net, extending Sporting’s lead.
Five minutes later, and in another counter-attacking move started from the left, Abuchi struck again. His hat-trick, followed by Linus’ 90th minute strike, sealed the win for Sporting Lagos as they moved into third on the log.
