Gbagada recorded a first home victory since October as they thrashed Valiant 4-0.
The Blue Eagles, ruthless in their approach to the game, broke the deadlock in the first minute through Taiwo Akire. The striker’s goal was a sign of things to come, upending whatever courage the Brave Boys came to town with.
The hosts doubled their lead in the 15th minute, with Semiu Fagbayi getting himself on the scoresheet. Like they did in the first half, the hosts scored in the first minute of the second, with Semiu Fagbayi bagging his brace.
A stunned Valiant made several attempts to pull one back and start off a comeback. They were however met with a solid defense and an impressive Lukman Babalola in goal who gave nothing away.
Coach Akinyelu’s boys would go on to add a fourth in the 81st minute as second-half substitute, Idowu Adebayo, also got in on the goal-scoring action. A comprehensive win at the end of the day for Gbagada, moving them into third spot. For Valiant, the end of their struggles is not in sight just yet.
