Broad City Steal Point with Late Goal

Broad City registered a third draw of the season in their away tie against Sporting Lagos FA.

The hosts began the game on the front foot, pressing for that early goal. But they found Broad City’s high defense line difficult to break through… until the 11th minute.

A few metres from the halfway line, Christopher Ibezimako broke through on goal after beating Broad City’s offside. He tucked the ball beneath an onrushing Emmanuel Obi, allowing the ball to roll into an empty net. The hosts would take the lead into the break as Broad City struggled to get into gear.

Half-time changes breathed fresh vigour into the visitors as they began the 2nd half with more enthusiasm. In the 71st minute, their momentum forced a goal-line clearance before Gafar Hammed denied a goal-bound attempt in the 83rd minute.

But there was nothing the Sporting Lagos FA goalie could do about the equalizer which came on the stroke of 90 minutes.

Boluwatife Iwuajoku received the ball in the area after a corner-kick. The second-half substitute found space and time to control and boot the ball into the net, breaking Sporting Lagos FA hearts.

The goal earned Broad City a point while also extending Sporting Lagos’ wait for a second home win of the season.
